Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Is this the same as Home Health PT?

A:  Not exactly.  Home health PT is prescribed specifically for patients who are not yet able to attend PT in an outpatient setting.  An example might be a patient who underwent surgery and needs PT, but is not appropriate for a clinical setting yet.

On The Go Physio is providing outpatient PT services for people who choose to be treated in their home instead of going to a clinic.

Q:  Do you take insurance?

A:  Not at this time

Q:  Why do you not take insurance?

A:  As a small business, accepting insurance can be a big headache.  Furthermore, many patients now have high deductible plans where it is unlikely they will ever reach their deductible, and have to pay hefty out-of-pocket fees for their sessions.  Charging patients based on the amount of time spent with therapist ensures all patients are billed fairly, and receiving 1-on-1 treatment may reduce the number of visits needed, which can save the patient money in the long run.

Q:  Can I still get reimbursed by my insurance for the cost of my PT session?

A:  Possibly.  We will provide you with a detailed receipt after your session that you can submit to your health insurance provider to see if they will reimburse the cost of your PT session.  We recommend you discuss with your health insurance provider to determine if this is an option.

Q:  Do I need weights, bands, or equipment at my home?

A:  Nope, we've got you covered!  Any type of equipment will be brought to your home.  If you need bands to do your home exercise program between therapy sessions, we can provide those as well.

Q:  What should I wear?

A:  Something you are comfortable moving around in that allows access to whatever part of the body is being treated.  For example, if you had knee surgery, wear shorts or some type of pants that allow access to your knee (not jeans).

Q:  What forms of payment do you accept?

A:  We accept cash, check, credit or debit cards.

Q:  When is payment due?

A:  Payment is due at the end of your appointment and you will be provided with a detailed receipt for your records.

Q:  What conditions do you treat?

A:  EVERYTHING!  Well, almost everything.  Any orthopedic condition of the neck, back, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot/ankle, and some conditions of the hand/wrist. (See the "Services" section for a list of specific conditions).  We also treat soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains, and do wellness screenings.  We will always discuss on the phone before your appointment to make sure that your condition is appropriate for therapy with us, or if you need to be referred to another specialist.  Our goal is to make sure you get better!

Q:  What is a therapy session like?

A:  Your first appointment will be an evaluation.  First we discuss the issue and any pertinent medical history.  Next we do an examination, looking at various test and measures to identify any particular deficits.  Then we discuss this information and develop a plan of care.  After this, we will usually do some treatment in the first session, whether it's exercise, manual therapy, or a combination of both.  You will be provided with a handout for your home exercise program and any pertinent information covered in the session.

For follow up sessions, we may begin with a warm-up, followed by exercise, and/or manual therapy.  This is different for everyone, as every condition requires a unique blend of treatment, but most patients can expect some exercise and some manual therapy at each session, as well as any pertinent patient education, and upgrades to home exercise programs.

Q:  How long do therapy sessions last?

A:  Appointments can be as short or as long as you need.  Typically an evaluation is 60-75 min, and follow-up appointments are around 45-60 min for most diagnoses.

Q:  Can I communicate with my PT via text or email?

A:  Yes, you can!  As a disclaimer, it should be noted that there is an inherent risk that PHI (protected health information) could potentially be compromised when using unencrypted forms of communication like text or email.  Despite this, many patients prefer the ease of text or email for things like sending forms, scheduling, or asking questions.  You can indicate your preferences on the Communication Form.

Q:  How do I verify a PT license?

A:  You can go the ECPTOTE website at https://ptot.texas.gov/pt-license-search/click on name, enter the LAST name of the therapist, and find them on the list.

Q:  Where do I find the Consumer Information Notice?

A:  https://ptot.texas.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Consumer_Information_Notice-PT_2022.09.pdf
